for those who prefer to travel on roads in good
condition and are used to the comfort of hotels.
This tourist package
includes two nights of astronomical observations
with fine amateur equipment and guides.
The
Grand North of Chile (Norte Grande) is a world
of minerals characterized by one of the most arid
deserts on the planet: The Atacama Desert. However,
in the Andes Mountains, life bursts forth from
lakes of many colors, turquoise and emeralds,
condors, foxes, and flamingos live in the tranquil
shade of impressive volcanoes. |

1 Visit Cerro Calan Observatory, Department of
Astronomy of the University of Chile. Talk by a professional
astronomer on "The Development of Astronomy in
Chile and its Large Projects". Hotel. Day
2 Visit to the Salt Mountains and the Moon Valley
Nature Sanctuary. Hotel. Day 3
Visit to the exclusive Puritama Hot Springs. First opportunity
for Guided astronomical observations. Hotel. Day
4 Visit to the Atacama Salt Flat and Miscanti
and Miniques lagoons. Second opportunity for Guided
astronomical observations. Hotel. Day
5 Transportation to the ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter
Array) site. Hotel. Day 6
Visit to the geothermal Tatio Geysers Camp. Hotel.
Day 7 Visit to the site of the Very Large Telescope
(VLT). Hotel. Day 8 Tour
of the Tarapaca vineyards or another similar. End of
