Caltech: Consortium to Build World's Largest Submillimeter Telescope in Chile
Five institutions from North America and Europe have created a consortium to oversee the building of a 25-meter submillimeter telescope on a high elevation in Chile.

When completed in 2013, the $100 million instrument will be the premier telescope of its kind in the world. The project is formally known as the Cornell Caltech Atacama Telescope (CCAT)... read more

"The night sky has been and continues to be an inspiration of humankind, and that its contemplation represents an essential element in the development of scientific thought in all civilisations. Responsible tourism, in its many forms, should be encouraged to take on board the night sky as a resource to protect and value in all destinations"

- QC subscribes "STARLIGHT DECLARATION" La Palma, April 20, 2007.
"The sky, our common and universal heritage, is an integral part of the environment perceived by humanity. Humankind has always observed the sky either to interpret it or to understand the physical laws that govern the universe. This interest in astronomy has had profound implications for science, philosophy, religion, culture and our general conception of the universe"

- QC acquires the newest camera for Its passengers.
Quality astrophotography in remote field locations is now possible on QC tours in northern Chile. The Canon 400D digital SLR camera was the obvious camera of choice due to its ease of operation, portability, and state of the art sensitivity and resolution. In addition to its large 10 megapixel CMOS detector, the 400D has been enhanced for full bandwidth sensitivity from the visible into the infrared spectral regions. This is critically important for astrophotography applications, especially for the outstanding star formation regions visible from the southern hemisphere.

- QC acquires the newest telescope for Its passengers.
QC, keeping its promise to provide services of the highest standard, has received the new Meade RCX400 telescope which has been called "the biggest news to hit the commercial telescope market in years".

QC clients are now regularly using this fabulous new telescope. Just imagine being able to discover the jewels of the southern sky peering through a new jewel-telescope and under one of the darkest skies of the planet...

The new RCX400 has an advanced Ritchey- Chretien design, similar to those of the modern professional telescopes, which will amaze the photographic observers because of the high-quality of the images over the whole field of view.
